The War Memorial Recreation Ground is located on the edge of the town of Southwell and has facilities for bowls, tennis and football as well as a pond, benches, trees and a toddlers’ play area.
The entrance to the space features a memorial archway with wrought iron gates, planting and a dedicatory board in the centre. The archway was dedicated in May 1948 by the Provost of Southwell and is inscribed in gold lettering across the top “In proud and faithful memory of the men of Southwell who gave their lives in war”, with the dates of both wars to either side.
